Our Mission and Values
The Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist exists to serve our city as a place of hope and love and to reach out to those who need the enabling, empowering, healing, and forgiving grace of God.
As a community we have 6 core values that define us: the gospel, the work of the Holy Spirit, a commitment to cultural diversity, a commitment to the poor and marginalized, a history of striving for civil rights and community rights, and a rich Anglican tradition of faith and worship.
We are a gospel-centered community walking together with those who have honest questions, doubts, persistent struggles, and weaknesses.
We are a Spirit-formed community, depending upon the power of the Holy Spirit to love and serve the world.
We are a culturally diverse community of rich, poor, Blacks, Whites, Latinos, and Caribbeans representing different social-economic classes.
We are a socially conscious community striving to bring the kingdom of God to bear upon our society for the common good, committed to serving our neighbors, especially the poor and marginalized in our communities.
We are a historic African American parish rooted in civil rights and committed to community rights.
We are a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida and a part of the world-wide Anglican Communion, embracing a rich liturgical and theological tradition.
